Enjoy this imaginary glimpse inside MOUTH
TO MOUTH!
MOUTH TO MOUTH was my first full length book set in
my home town, Cleveland, Ohio.. The action takes place in the middle
of a frigid North Shore winter, which
could test the endurance of the most cheerful of people. Cleveland
was built on steel, and is known as a working class town, and Russ
is definitely a regular guy. He drinks beer, tells it like it is, and
has no patience for computers and frou-frou coffee.
While Russ
lives within the city of Cleveland, Laurel lives in an inner-ring
suburb,
Lakewood, on Lake Erie. It’s a suburb of fifty-five
thousand diverse inhabitants in six square miles, and it’s a
walking community, with the majority of houses and apartments built
before 1950. I don’t live in Lakewood anymore, but I enjoyed
giving a nod to it in MOUTH TO MOUTH, even though our house was in
what used to be called middle Lakewood, and not Laurel’s lakefront
neighborhood.
I hope you'll enjoy these photos...a little 'taste'
of Cleveland you'll read about in MOUTH TO MOUTH.
A tidy and
friendly street in Cleveland that could be Russ’ neighborhood.
There’s something to be said for the small yard- grass cutting
in ten minutes or less!

My cat Max,
the inspiration for Ferris. He is fastidious, disdainful, and much
too smart for his own good. Favorite pastimes include sleeping
on anything fleece and stealing our other cat’s food.

Houses similar
to Laurel’s. Her backyard drops down into Lake Erie and is
a Clarence Mack home from the nineteen twenties, like these are.

Lake Erie in
the middle of winter. Makes me cold just looking at it! :-)
